"AS CHRIST LOVED"
| 1. Understanding the character of God. There are several things that the Bible says God is: | |||||||||
| a) Jn:4:24 - God is a Spirit: and they that worship him
must worship him in spirit and in truth.
b) 1 Cor:1:9 - God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord. c) 1 Jn:1:5 - This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. d) Most importantly, God is love. |

| i) 1 Jn 4:8 - He that loveth not knoweth not God; for
God is love.
ii) 1 Jn:4:16 - And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. |

| 2. What is love? - Roots are in the Hebrew word Haceed. | |||||||||
| a) DEFINE HACEED | |||||||||
| i) Translated in Bible as "TENDER MERCY", “LOVINGKINDNESS” or "GRACE" | |||||||||
| a) Inadequate translation - is deeper | |||||||||
| ii) "An overwhelming desire to give of yourself, to the other, for their benefit, no matter the cost to you." | |||||||||

b) Always forgives. c) Always overlooks wrongs. d) Always assumes the best. e) Is always patient. f) Is always - everlasting. |

| iii) If we are dead to self, we cannot be hurt, therefore we can act in love at all times. | |||||||||
