"GETTING THE VICTORY"

1. God has decreed victory in our lives. It is up to us to hold fast to that victory
  a) Rom 8:37 - “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.”

b) Even those things that don’t feel like victory will become victory if we believe God will take care of it.

    i) Rom 8:28 - “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
2. Jehosaphat won the victory
  a) Jehosaphat was a Godly king (of Judah)
    i) You can’t expect God to give you the victory if you’re not on His side

ii) 2 Chr 17:3-4 - “The Lord was with Jehosaphat because he walked in the ways of his father David. He did not seek the Baals. (4) But sought and yearned with all his desire for the Lord...”

      a) Jehosaphat tore down the high places and shrines to idols
    iii) Mt 6:33 - “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
  b) As long as Jehosaphat followed God’s plan, God gave him peace
    i) He sent the priests out to teach the people the Word of God - 17:7-9

ii) God gave Jehosaphat peace because he feared the Lord - 17:10

iii) Even the Arabs brought him gifts of tribute - 17:11

  c) Even those who fear the Lord can get trapped into doing the wrong thing.
    i) Be careful who you make alliances with
      a) 2 Cor 6:14 - “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?”
    ii) Jehosaphat was allied by married to Ahab (an ungodly king of Israel) 18:1
      a) Ahab talked Jehosaphat into joining with him in war - 18:2-3

b) Jehosaphat asked for prophets to bring the word of the Lord 18:4-5

c) Jehosaphat asked for another prophet - 18:6
