Purim

V This is a celebration of the time when God protected his people, the Israelites
from dying - God is our protection.
-
V God changes all the works of the enemy for our benefit.
Passover
-
V The celebration of Passover is a picture of the death and resurrection
of Jesus.
-
V When Jesus celebrated the Last Supper, He was celebrating the Passover.
-
V Looking for Elijah - The last verses in the Old Testament, in Malachi,
say that Elijah would come before the Messiah.
-
V Washing - Jesus washed the feet of His disciples. Because, when we have
been washed in His blood, we are clean. However, contact with the world can
cuase us to receive spots, and we need to be washed again.
-
V Karpas (green vegetable) and salt - Our life in Christ. Saltwater is like
tears, Jesus said: "My soul is afflicted, even unto death"

Unleavened bread (Afikoman):
-
Bread is a symbol of the body. Leavening is a symbol of sin. Unleavened bread
is a person without sin, Jesus.

There are lines of holes, Jesus "was pierced for our transgressions" (Is
53:5)
-
Between the lines of holes are brown lines. Jesus "was striped for our
iniquities" (is 53:5)
-
The bread is broken - the body of Christ was broken and died for us.
-
One part (the Afikoman) is hidden, with a covering of cloth, till the end
of the celebration when the children search for it. Whichever of the children
discover it receive a prize. - When Jesus died, he was wrapped in cloth and
buried. But he didn't stay in the ground, and resurrected the third day.
Whoever discovers Jesus receives the prize of eternal life.

They eat the bread - at the Last Supper, Jesus divided the bread and shared
it with his disciples.
-
Lamb - Jesus is the true lamb of God.
-
Cup of wine - Jesus took the third cup, which had His name "salvation" and
shared it with His disciples.
-
The Maror (bitter herb) and the Charoset - persecution and work for the Lord,
even though our work can be bitter at times, it is always sweet as well.
First Fruits
Pentecost

The story of Ruth is read on this day - in this story, Boaz is a symbol of
Jesus, our redeemer.
-
In the book of Acts, they received the baptism of the Holy Spirit on Pentacost.
-
The time between Passover and Pentecost is a symbol of the time the nacion
of Israel spent in the desert - Jesus' disciples spent this time in a spiritual
desert, while they waited for the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
Rosh HaShanah (Festival of Trumpets)

Playing the trumpet (shofar) - "In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye,
at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised
incorruptible, and we shall be changed." (1 Cor 15:52)
-
Ceremony of rocks - When they throw the rocks in the sea, or other body of
water, it is a symbol that God throws our sins in the depths of the ocean.
Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement)
Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles)

The birth of Christ was probably in a Sukka (tabernacle), during or immediately
after this festival.
-
The tabernacle is temporary and weak - our bodies are temporary dwellings
and aren't strong.

There are spaces within the roof and walls - "For I am persuaded, that neither
death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present,
nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall
be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our
Lord." (Rom 8:38-39)

The time of one week in the tabernacle - our seven year in heaven with Jesus
during the time of Revelations.

The last day, Simchat Torah (celebration of the law) - we are in covenant
with God. The law is the terms or conditions of this covenant.

Praying together under the prayer shawl - the prayer shawl signifies God
over us, we are together under His covering.
Hanukkah

V Menorah - Jesus is a light to this worls, likewise we are to be lights
to theworld as well.
-
V It is a celebration of the miracle when God protected the faith and religion
of the Jews.
