The Jews had two types of calendars:

Civil calendar - official calendar of kings, childbirth, and contracts
-
Sacred calendar - from which festivals were computed
Jewish months were alternately 29 and 30 days long.
Their year was shorter than ours, having only 354 days.
About every 3 years (7 times in 19 years), there was an extra 29 day month,
Veadar, between Adar and Nisan |
