-- MEXICAN PRAYER MOVEMENT --

We're still working on spreading the vision of the prayer movement to more and more pastors in Reynosa. Just a couple of weeks ago, we changed the weekly prayer meeting from Friday morning to Thursday night. The attendance tripled at the first meeting. We're hoping to keep these pastors involved.

I've also been working on some other things to motivate and educate the pastors of the city. We recently held a Spiritual Warfare conference in order to train the pastors about the need and how to of this important area. The attendance was fairly good, and the attendees learned a lot. It's amazing how much ignorance there is in this area. Some pastors have never heard of Spiritual Warfare, and many are afraid to confront the enemy.

As part of the preparation for this conference, we created a video of the "high places" in Reynosa. Many people drive by these places all the time, not seeing them as a stronghold of the enemy. By showing them examples of the areas where the enemy is working, we've opened their eyes to know better what to pray against. Since we are working to prepare a "spiritual map" of the city, having more people aware of what to look for will help accelerate this part of the work.

Another thing we've been doing to help motivate the pastors is preparing written teachings on intercessory prayer and some of the areas we're coming against. Recently, we prepared an expose on what Masonry is to hand out to the pastors. Since Masonry is a very secretive organization, there aren't many people who aren't part of it that understand what it is. Basically this consisted of quotes from their literature, showing how they are not a Christian organization, and are actually another religion. Since there are many pastors involved in Masonry, and many Masons within the church, this helped the members of the prayer movement know what this organization is doing to undermine the work of the church.

Our next Prayer in the Plaza meeting is scheduled for the 30th of this month. We're meeting in the plaza of the second largest colonia (halfway between a housing development and a suburb) in Reynosa. Please pray that God brings a lot of believers out for this event.

-- BIBLE SCHOOL --

In January and February of this year, I taught a class on the Old Testament in a Bible Institute in Harlingen, Texas (about 40 miles from where we stay). It turns out that this was the largest class they've ever had in that institute. Although many Christians don't pay much attention to the Old Testament, the students were talking about the class to their friends, and inviting them to join us. We ended up with more than twice as many students as the institute had ever had.

Since this institute, and the pastor who runs it, are very well known in the area, this has opened many other doors of ministry for us. It's become one of those "it's not what you know, it's who you know" type of situations.

The pastor who runs the school has already asked me to teach a class on marriage and family for their next school year. He said that he tries to seek out ministers that are true experts in various areas, and have them teach the classes. Since most of the Hispanic bible schools are highly traditional, this gives him a very unorthodox curriculum, but one that I think is probably much more effective in the long run.

I've also been asked by another missionary to work with him on starting a bible school in Miguel Aleman, a city about 40 miles in the other direction. This is the same missionary that has the radio station that our program is broadcast from. Since a large part of our vision is to train the leaders, we're seriously praying about how God would have us help start this work, and whether He would want us to teach more or less full time at the institute.

-- HEAT --

I wrote a praise report a couple of months ago about our victory over Deborah's problem with the heat. Unfortunately, it looks like that praise report was a little premature. Although the information that the doctor found was true, and the extra potassium has helped Deborah, the heat is still causing her problems.

Of course, every day here is either 100 degrees plus, or striving to get as close to 100 as possible, so we're talking about a lot of heat. With the potassium, she's able to handle about 90, or maybe on a good day even as high as 95 (there are other factors that affect this). But, it's rare that we see a day that's less than 90 degrees.

What we've had to do is keep her out of the heat, and in the air conditioning as much as possible. Someone else at the campground here had an extra air conditioner they weren't using, which I installed in the back of the motorhome. So now we have two working air conditioners. This has been a great help, keeping the temperature inside the motorhome down to about 85 in the middle of the day (the back is cooler). That may not seem cool to you, but when it's over 100 outside, 85 inside seems nice and cool.

The problem is when we go into Mexico. We can't pull enough electricity at the churches there to run both air conditioners. So, every time I've had to go into Mexico for something, I've had to drop Deborah off somewhere with air conditioning while I go. This is helping her greatly, but unfortunately it's cut into our ability to minister in Mexico.

Please pray that God gives us another vehicle so that I can use it to run around, and minister in Mexico, while keeping Deborah in the air conditioned motorhome at the campground. A suburban, or other SUV would be perfect for our needs, especially with the rough roads, but a minivan would also work (although probably would break down quicker).

-- MOTORHOME UPDATE --

Speaking of the motorhome, I'm just starting to take the engine apart again. Last winter, when we had the piston melt down, the shop that worked on the head told me that the heads needed to be rebuilt. At that time, we didn't have the cash on hand to rebuild the heads, so I put that off. The time has come, and we're having to do that now.

Unfortunately, every time I have to work on the motorhome, it takes time away from other ministry activities. That time could be better spent in writing books, visiting pastors, study, or a number of other things. This has been one area that satan likes to attack us, and because of the age of our motorhome, it has been somewhat effective.

We've had a couple of people suggest that we give up on the motorhome, and rent a house. However, that would limit our ability to do some of the things we do, and also increase our monthly costs. If nothing else, living here in the campground in the motorhome is a very inexpensive way to live.

God has not spoken to us about changing our lifestyle from the motorhome to a more permanent residence. We've asked, and at times it seems like we'd like that better, but we still see the motorhome as a major part of the ministry the Lord has for us.

Please continue praying for the replacement for this motorhome. Every time we see a nice big new one (there's a lot of those here in the valley), we thank God again for ours. Every time I see a bus, I see plans in my mind for converting it to a motorhome. I know that my God is able and faithful. It's all just a matter of timing.

-- WEB SITE --

We've just made another major update to our web site. This brings the total number of pages up to 260. According to my latest count, over 140 of those pages are teachings (most of which would print out as several pages long). I don't know of any other ministry of our size that has so many teachings available online.

In addition to the teachings, we put all our newsletters, testimonies, and other information about the ministry. Anyone who wants to know what this ministry is about can find out through our web site. Some pastors have used this as a method to check us out before asking us to minister.

In April, we had over 4,800 visitors on the web site, and in June we hit a high with over 5,200 visitors! We are actually ministering to more people through the internet than we do in person. By far, the area with the most visitors is the marriage area. It seems there are lots of people out there who are looking for help in their marriages.

Each month, about 20% of our visitors are from outside the U.S. We've had people from Japan, South Africa, several countries in Europe, the Middle East, and several countries in South America. One recent e-mail we received asked us who our distributor for our books was in Argentina!

-- AUGUST PLANS --

We've had several churches in the Northeast part of Texas ask us to come up and minister. So as part of our heat avoidance plan, we've decided that it would make the most sense to visit these churches in August. We have a marriage conference here in the valley for the first couple of days of August, and will probably head out just after that.

We expect to be coming back to the valley sometime in September. There's still lots of work we need to do here, and we know that God hasn't released us from this area yet.

-- BOOKS AND COMPUTERS --

Our writing work continues on and on. Actually, it seems to be increasing. Now that Deborah's written her first solo book, she's spending more and more time on the computer. Right now, she's in the process of translating her book "Realizacion Sexual Para Mujeres" into English.

The problem is that with both of us writing on the same computer, we have trouble finding enough hours in the day. We've gotten to the point where we need two computers in the motorhome. Or three, so that the kids can work on one.

Unfortunately, living in a motorhome means that we don't have a lot of space. It would be very hard to put two desktop computers anywhere in here. So, what we really need is a couple of laptop computers. If you know of anyone who has a pentium laptop computer they're not using, we could sure put it to good use for the Lord.

Well, that's about what's going on with us. Please let us know what's going on with you, and your prayer requests as well. We love to hear from people.

Blessings in the name of the Lord,
